This is a person in business Coaching who represents the company or department that is responsible for the organisation of the coaching process.  In most cases it is somebody from the HR department. The Sponsor is responsible for finding a Coach and their verification, monitoring the effects of the coaching process as well as handling financial matters.

The Sponsor is one of the parties participating in the organisation of  the coaching process.   Other people who can also participate in the process of choosing a coach, but are not always present during meetings (because there are many ways of formalising cooperation with a coach) are the superior and sometimes members of the company’s board.
