Korzybski Alfred

( 1879–1950) A Polish engineer and philosopher, who spent a large portion of his life in the U.S.  He is one of the creators of the general semantic system, which putting in simple terms, means the relationship between the language and interpersonal relations.  According to Alfred Korzybski, perfecting and healing the language can strongly influence human Behaviour and may become a tool that influences the world.  According to general semantics, the main mistakes that burden our language and negatively influence our community are:  lack of precise statements, an inclination to speak unclearly or susceptibility to manipulation.

Quotations of Alfred Korzybski:

“A map is not territory”

“There are two ways to an easy life: believe in everything or nothing.  Both excuse us from thinking.”
