Building a bond of trust most often requires time, during which both The client and the Coach make sure they can count on each other. Key elements of trust building on the Coach’s part are: meeting his obligations and punctuality. A relation built on trust is created from the very first moments of meeting with The client.
The client should have complete trust in his coach in matters of Confidentiality, predictability and professionalism, as well as faith both in him and his possibilities. Trust creates a perfect climate for development. A lack of trust closes the client and coach thus making effective coaching sessions impossible.
The Coachee should feel that the coach is on his side, but it is very important that the coach does not cross certain boundaries which are a result of his ethical code, obligations towards the sponsor and should avoid taking the position of a saviour (see dramatical triangle).
