Recognition

This is reinforcing The client in such a form, that he does not get become dependent on the Coach’s opinion.  In contrast to recognition there is praise, when the Coach accents his own emotions, for example: I am so proud of you, I like your work, etc.

When expressing recognition, The client’s efforts and emotions are stressed, for example: “this required a lot of effort on your part” or “notice how you have changed the way you perceive a given situation”.  Recognition does not have any negative consequences in the form of evaluation (even positive) and triggering the effect of the client awaiting and expecting the coach’s acceptance.  Another great advantage of using recognition is that it refers rather to the level of Identity, skills or abilities. This always builds a stronger belief in one’s possibilities and a sense of empowerment.
