Backtracking

This is the ability to summarize client’s situation with a focus on key points of their statements, preferably in a chronological order. It is important that while backtracking Coach uses client’s manner of speaking, elements of their body language and words of key importance. This allows the Coach to build a deeper relationship based on mutual Trust.

It is worth pointing out the difference between backtracking and Paraphrase (which is defined in numerous ways), in which we use our own words to describe the understanding of another person’s statements. Then, there is the risk of misunderstanding The client as various meanings are applied to the same words by different people.

Backtracking is an important tool for exploring client’s perception of reality.

Backtracking is also used to:

–        building relationship

–        manifesting that The client is carefully listened to
