As if...

A type of intervention in Coaching based on asking a question which erases all barriers in The clients mind.  Usually, when clients think of The future they block  their own actions through a limiting perception of reality.  A question “Imagine, what it would be like, if…” allows to look into The future without needless restraint.  Thanks to this The client may change his way of thinking and often separate what is a real obstacle from a way of thinking that blocks his activities.

The question “As if” is a type of reframing, which allows to look at the reality surrounding the client in a different, richer way.  Another way of achieving a similar outcome is requesting the Coachee to imagine, that he has a “magic wand” at his disposal or a “magic pill” that eliminates all barriers.
